Branding - Vive la france!
French branding - I saw this article about the new public urinals in Paris and could not wait to discover their solution to a VERY unusual product/service and how they visually solved their branding and marketing problems. Check this out
This situation exemplifies the difficulty and therefore the work in solving the primary problem of good branding, who is your market (your target audience) and what are ALL the questions that follow this one question, which a good designer must do to properly solve the problem. Just for starters, is the market the individual using the product, 'the male in need' or is it also those around him, 'the public'? Is the male participant young or older? or are you solving the problem for both? Are there colour options which should not be considered due to cultural perceptions? For theses answers and more, there is obviously a required in depth discussion and then sometimes a variety of alternative directions which should be considered.
As earlier mentioned, this is just the beginning of the process. There are many questions and steps to go through, so do not skip any or your final result could come up lacking. Enjoy the challenge of this problem, think about what you would have done differently. Remember, if ones sees an implemented solution, it does not always mean it was the best solution.
